When you go out on those hot summer days, you need to hydrate constantly. The problem is, the heat from the sun isn’t just making you hot, it is also making your drink hot.
We have all experienced having to wipe the condensation from our cups, cans, bottles, or any other container. It’s frustrating.
When I pick up my drink and it’s drenched with condensation, I know two things. First, I am about to be drinking a semi-cold beverage. Second, I figure I better drink all of it now before it becomes a hot beverage. There is no opportunity to enjoy my drink.
Insulated Tumblers to the rescue!
The good new is, people much smarter than I have figured out a way to keep the heat out of your cup and keep the frosty contents frosty.
Let’s look at some tumblers that made specifically for hot summer days when you most need an ice cold drink.
Rocky Mountain Tumbler
Rocky Mountain Tumblers are a good starting point for insulated cups, and this is one of their very best sellers. This tumbler is made of kitchen grade stainless steel making it very easy to clean and very sturdy. It will hold up you drop it. Something I never, ever do. Ever. (Ok. Maybe once.)
Good size, clear lid
The cup is a decent size and will hold up to 30 ounces (without ice) of your favorite beverage. It has a clear see through lid to let you know how much liquid you have left. There are additional lids you can get for this cup that will help to retain the temperature of your drink even better.
24 hour chill
It’s double-walled vacuum insulation will keep your drink cold for up to 24 hours. It can also keep your hot drinks hot for up to 12 hours.
Should you get this one?
While this is double-walled and vacuum sealed, it still loses temperature a little quickly for my taste. The drink can stay cold for 24 hours but not with the lid that comes with this tumbler. If you opt for one of the upgraded covers that do not have holes in them, then you will get the full benefits of this tumbler. But it is very disappointing that you have to purchase more accessories for it
Simple Modern Tumbler
The Simple Modern Tumbler is double walled, and vacuum sealed to give maximum insulation. It has great Ice retention and is constructed to make sure your drink stays cold throughout the day.
The exterior will never sweat. Take it to the office and don’t worry about sweat rings on your desk. And on the way to the office, this one is shaped so it easily fits in your car’s cup holder. Even the 30 ounce.
Steel and copper to keep it colder
This cup is made of stainless steel with a layer of copper on the interior of the vacuum wall. This helps your drink stay colder longer than stainless steel alone.
Cool. Cool colors.
Cold for 24 hours hot for 8 hours. And it comes in a whole slew of powder coated colors. I like the Autumn Orange.
Should you buy this one?
This is a better buy than the previous one, plus the lid it comes with offers the 24 hour cold insulation benefit. No additional purchases required, which is much better. If you’re someone who likes a little personality to your tumbler, you’ll like the choice of colors. One drawback: It’s not dishwasher safe. So be prepared to do hand washing .
Yeti Rambler 20 Ounce Tumbler
Yeti is the go-to brand for many outdoorsmen when they need a cooler to keep their food or drinks cold. This tumbler lives up to the Yeti name. Like any self-respecting insulated tumbler, it is double walled, and vacuum sealed to keep your drink ice cold.
The cup is made from 18/8 stainless steel. One of the highest rated stainless steels you can find in a cup, you could call it overkill, but strong is what you want when you are trying to keep your drinks cold.
Clear lid, sweat free.
The cup has a crystal clear lid, and you can see straight through it. The lid, as well as the cup itself, are dishwasher safe. The no-sweat design keeps your hands dry.
Should you get this one?
Yeti cups (or any Yeti product) is always worth the money, so yes, I would say this is a cup you should seriously look at. Because Yeti is such a sought-after brand, there are people selling knockoff products, so be careful when purchasing online. But that is the only thing that I can say negative about this tumbler.
Wrap – Up
Getting an insulated tumbler is not a luxury when you are going to be spending a lot of time in the heat (or even the cold), it is a necessity. Either of these three will do fine for you, but if you are going to be in extreme heat or just be outside for several hours, I would suggest the Yeti. My favorite.
