Updated on September 4th, 2018 – Who doesn’t love Asian food? You can prepare it in your home, go to a restaurant, or you can order take-out and either way, it’s always a good choice. But the best way to really enjoy this type of food is going all the way and eating it the way it’s meant to be eaten – with chopsticks.

It might be tricky at first to get used to chopsticks, but the more you use them the more you’ll get to master this art. Besides, what’s cooler than eating with sticks?

There are some things you need to consider first. You can get Chinese, Japanese, or Korean chopsticks. They are made of a great variety of materials and they all have specific characteristics, but in the end, it will be up to you to decide the type that’s perfect for you.

Here are some tips: Bamboo or wooden sticks are heat resistant, but they can split or get splinters. Plastic ones are cheaper, but not very durable. Stainless steel or titanium are reusable and durable, but some say they leave a metallic taste in your mouth (I haven’t had that experience, and I think these are some of the best on the market).

There are some other very particular or rare materials like bone, precious metals, or other kinds of wood, but they are used to express status or are said to bring long life, wealth etc. into one’s family.

If you are going to do this right, you need to get the right chopsticks for you. Ones that are comfortable, that have the right shape for your hand, and won’t chip or break.

So if you are ready to have an authentic experience and enjoy Asian food like a pro, then keep reading to find out the best chopsticks for eating your food.

Happy Sales HSCH22/S

This package comes with 5 pairs of reusable Japanese chopsticks. They are made from bamboo and they come in 5 different colors with a bit of Japanese art.

Never worry about them slipping from your hands or having trouble “catching” the food in your plate because they have a firm grip. It is recommended to hand-wash them instead of putting them in the dishwasher. They are a very simple but beautiful model of chopsticks that will work great, especially for beginners. Also, considering the price. They are super affordable and will last a long time.

finessCity Titanium Chopsticks

Instead of 5 pairs, this one comes by itself, but don’t panic because it is worth it. These chopsticks are strong and durable, but lightweight. Also – one of my favorite things – they’re dishwasher safe! The fact that they are made of titanium makes them perfect for that.

This material is non-allergenic, won’t leave any odor or taste in your food, and is environmentally friendly. It is not toxic to the human body and non-corrosive. Also, titanium is 60% lighter than stainless steel so you won’t even feel their weight, just the weight of your food.

See finessCity’s product here at Amazon.

You can use them for any type of Asian food like rice, noodles, sushi, etc. and they are the best option for taking to school, camping or traveling since they come with a strong aluminum case to store them and carry them. You can choose between 4 beautiful colors for the case (gray, orange, blue, and pink).

The design is pretty simple, but still beautiful and practical with a great construction and finish. They are a bit expensive since each pair of finessCity chopsticks are sold individually, but they are one of the best out there.

This is an option that’s great for personal use but also great as a gift for weddings, housewarming parties, home dinners or just for that special someone because these 5 pairs of chopsticks come inside a beautiful packaging, which makes them look very presentable and nice.

Made of natural wood and varnished 5 times with natural lacquer (this does not contain BPA or any chemical), they are very healthy and won’t chip or get splinters. Also, this material is very smooth which makes them super easy to use and clean (and yes, they are dishwasher safe).

They are elegant yet plain plus every detail, like the bits of glitter on the upper part of each one, has been carefully polished, giving every AOOSY chopstick a lovely and eye-catching look.

Rbenxia Chopsticks

My last recommendation is a stainless steel set of chopsticks because I want you to finish reading this article and feel that you know a bit more about each option, and even though this may not be your favorite, you can know why it’s not.

Some people say stainless steel might leave a taste on your mouth, but I think that is subjective and not always true. That is why this is also a good option for the house.

If you want more awesome stainless steel cookware, check out a few options here.

The swirly design and the tapered end make these chopsticks on of the most beautiful, elegant and unique ones you can get without having to pay a lot of money.

The steel material doesn’t add much weight so they still have the lightweight feature, plus heat insulation which helps you eat any type of hot food. They are much easier to use than you would normally expect of metal chopsticks, so don’t cross this option off your list.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the Happy Sales HSCH22/S made from?

While these chopsticks are marketed and styled as Japanese chopsticks, they are in fact made in China. This is somewhat misleading to the customer, but they are great quality chopsticks that will look and feel like Japanese ones. I don’t think it matters too much where they are made from, as long as they are good quality and don’t fall apart, which these definitely will not!

I have small hands, will these Happy Sales HSCH22/S chopsticks be a good fit?

The Happy Sales HSCH22/S chopsticks are measured at just under 9 inches, yes they will be a good fit! Chopsticks can come in varying sizes depending on what type of style the chopsticks are designed from. Japanese chopsticks seem to be around 9 inches or 23 centimeters. While Chinese chopsticks are a bit longer and are usually 10-12 inches or 25-27 centimeters. No matter what size your hand is, chopsticks were designed to fit all shapes and sizes of hands, just like forks and spoons were also designed to fit all types of hands!

What is the quality or grade of titanium used in the finessCity Titanium Chopsticks?

These are solid chopsticks made out of high-grade titanium. The company finessCity uses a TA1 grade of titanium, also known as Grade 2. This is the second highest grade of titanium available to use. There is not much difference between Grade 1 and Grade 2 and you will not be able to notice it when using these chopsticks. They are both lightweight and very durable, in fact, Grade 2 is slightly stronger than Grade 1. They are both of equal strength when it comes to corrosion resistance.

Are the AOOSY Japanese Chopsticks tapered to a point or to a more rounded end?

These chopsticks are tapered to a rounded end. Not only these chopsticks are tapered to a rounded end but you will find almost every pair of chopsticks is tapered or shaped in this style. This makes sense because it is easier to pick objects up with a rounded end than a pointy one. A pointed end would be smaller and harder to pick things up, as well as stabbing the food instead of grabbing the food.

What kind of wood are the AOOSY Japanese Chopsticks made from?

These chopsticks were actually made from 5 different types of all natural wood. Chestnut, Ebony, Cassia siamea, Boxwood, and Rosewood. They are then safely varnished five times with lacquer. This Lacquer is a natural substance taken from a Lacquer tree. The chopsticks do not contain any harmful chemicals. No BPA, PVC or phthalates are used.

Are the grooves at the bottom of the Rbenxia Chopsticks just for show or will actually help me grip the food better?

The groove design of these chopsticks was very intentional. The problem with a lot of metal chopsticks is that slippery objects like noodles seem to slide off easily in comparison to wooden ones. This groove design along the bottom near the tips of the chopsticks solves this problem and will allow you to grip any slippery food with ease!
