- Enjoy a perfectly warm cup of coffee all day long with an insulated mug.
Coffee is a beautiful drink during those frigid winter months.

It keeps our bodies alert and energized, helps keep us warm, and gives us something to sip on throughout the day.
But as great as coffee can be, it also has the potential to be the nastiest thing you have ever tasted.
I don’t mean drinking coffee that doesn’t have cream and sugar in it (in fact that is the way I prefer my coffee), nor do I mean the bitter taste of certain coffee beans. I am talking about that lukewarm taste that instantly requires you to spit the beverage out of your mouth no matter how inappropriate it is at the time.
Anybody who has ever tasted half cold coffee knows – it is positively the worst thing that can happen to coffee. Luckily, there are several options for you if you want to keep your brew hot for hours on end while you go about your day.
Today we will look into some different coffee mugs that are designed to keep your beverage hot, for hours at a time, regardless how long it takes you to finish drinking it.
Hydro Flask Double Wall Vacuum Insulated Travel Coffee Mug
Hydro Flask is already well known for being a water bottle that keeps your drinks cold throughout the day, but it is just as good at keeping coffee hot. It can keep your drinks hot for up to 6 hours before the temperature begins to drop.
- Coffee tumblers are so versatile. They are great for use at home or on the go.
It is able to do this because of the double wall vacuum insulation that keeps cool air from infiltrating your drink, while also keeping the hot air from escaping. It is made with 18/8 stainless steel, which is food grade, meaning you won’t have a nasty metal taste when you drink out of it.
The proprietary powder coat surrounding the outside keeps the bottle from slipping out of your hand or sliding around when you set it on the table.
There is a wide mouth opening that is compatible with several of the proprietary lids you can purchase for this bottle, giving you several different ways to consume your beverage from this travel mug.
Should you get the Hydro Flask?
Like I said earlier, Hydro Flask is well respected in the travel mug industry. It is guaranteed to keep your coffee hot for hours at a time. However, it is also a little awkward to hold because it is so large, and the wide mouth opening doesn’t make it very easy to drink hot coffee from. Luckily they have a lid with a straw that you can get for it, but the idea of being forced to upgrade a coffee mug to get the best use of it is off-putting for me.
Versatility: Eco Vessel Double Barrel Insulated Beer / Coffee Mug
If you’re looking for versatility and a large capacity, this is the mug for you. Made with the durable and insulating stainless steel material, this mug has a two layered construction.
Like a beer barrel, that can regulate the state of any drink you put into it.
It can keep carbonated beverages bubbly, iced beverages chilly, and most importantly, a large cup of coffee nice and warm. It’s also BPA free.
Coffee lovers will rejoice at the Eco Vessel’s capacity. At 30 ounces, it can hold all the coffee you’ll need for the day.
It also comes with a large handle to make sure you have a firm grip on your cup of joe, and has a wide mouth for easy cleaning, as well as an easy open, secure sliding lid for any potential travels.
I really like the idea that Eco Vessel had when designing this insulated coffee mug. It looks like a better version of your regular home coffee mugs, with the distinct difference being that it is a double walled travel mug that traps the heat inside of the cup, keeping your joe hot for a longer period.
It is made of premium 18/8 stainless steel with no BPA’s and no liners, keeping your coffee tasting fresh rather than tasting like metal. It is insulated to keep drinks both hot and cold (depending what you are holding) and it has a removable top with a sliding bar to open and close the lid.
The side handle is a wonderful addition making the cup much easier to hold (it is a rather bulky travel mug), and the mug itself is large enough to hold 30 ounces of liquid.
Should you get the Eco Vessel?
If you need something that is tip proof or won’t slide around easily, you may want to stay away from this mug, because there is nothing on the bottom of it to help keep it from moving around. But if you are just going to be sitting down in one spot, then I think this will work. It is large enough to hold more coffee than most people will consume in one work day.
At Home: Avito Stainless Steel 14 Oz Insulated Coffee Mugs
Avito’s set of stainless steel mugs are perfect for keeping that cozy cup of coffee warm all day. They’re insulated, shatterproof, spill resistant, and BPA free.
With a double walled vacuum seal design, it meets industry standards for temperature regulation while the outer layer stays cool to the touch, which most mugs cannot live up to.
They also come with a fitted lid, which is the most effective way to maintain a hot coffee temperature.
In terms of cleaning, the Avito mugs do need to be hand washed, since the stainless steel material can be worn away in the dishwasher.
These mugs are worth the care though, as they’ll give you that perfect cup of coffee with every sip.
This is a pretty cool option for those of you who don’t need a travel mug but still want something that can hold in the heat for more than ten or fifteen minutes. It is a 14-ounce mug that has double walled insulation giving you more time to enjoy your joe.
It is made from top quality stainless steel and will last for years, plus it has a beautifully brushed finished on it that will keep it looking fresh the whole time. The fact that it is BPA free and has zero toxins is a definite plus too.
The Avito mug has a 100 percent money back guarantee. If you don’t like the mug, send it back for a full refund.
Should you get the Avito?
This is a versatile mug that you can take with you anywhere you go.
It is great for sipping hot cocoa or coffee by the campfire in the winter months, and it is durable enough to go on those trips without having to worry about it cracking.
- Keep your coffee steaming hot with the right mug.
The Aesthetic Choice: Ello Mesa Ceramic Tumbler
The Ello Mesa is the most aesthetically pleasing out of all the choices since it’s made of ceramic.
Ceramic material won’t hold heat quite as well as the stainless steel designs, but it still integrates the double wall design for added insulation, so it’ll last for a few hours at least.
Aside from the material, this mug is very versatile in terms of at home or traveling. It has a spill resistant sliding lid for travel, but it’s perfectly fine to use in the comfort of your kitchen as well.
It’s also free of BPA, phthalates, PVC, lead, and cadmium, making it a great, healthy, beautiful option.
On The Go: Contigo Autoseal Vacuum Insulated Travel Mug with Easy-Clean Lid
In terms of travel mugs, the Contigo is a fairly standard mug model with a superior lid design, which one of the most important elements for coffee travel.
Its lid has patented “Autoseal” technology, which is basically a locking mechanism that seals the lid in between sips. This is a great design for bumpy car rides and gives you peace of mind that your coffee isn’t spilling all over our interior.
This travel mug also has a 16 ounce capacity with stainless steel construction and the double wall vacuum insulation, keeping your coffee warm for up to 6 hours.
It’s also generously sized, fitting 2 cups of coffee (16 ounces) inside, and comes in a huge variety of colors. At a fairly economic price, you can’t go wrong with this pick.
High Capacity Option: Thermos Stainless Steel King 40 Ounce Beverage Bottle
If you really need a big dose of caffeine to get your day going, look no further than the Thermos brand stainless steel “King”.
It is advertised to keep its 40 ounce capacity of coffee warm for 24 hours with patented vacuum technology, while the outside of the bottle stays cool to the touch.
The lid conveniently doubles as a serving cup, which means this mug can keep you (and maybe a friend or two) going all day long!
MIRA Brands 40 oz (1.2 L) Stainless Steel Thermal Coffee Carafe
I just got this one, Mira sent it to me to test out. All opinions are my own of course. And I was honestly skeptical at first.
I already have a 1.5L carafe that’s stainless and double walled.
However, the 1.5L size is a little too big. The Mira 40 oz is perfect (See Amazon for pricing) for the amount of coffee that I drink. I can bring the carafe to the office and trust that it’ll keep the coffee hot.
The added bonus is that I can put my pour over coffee maker right on top and make coffee directly into this carafe. I couldn’t do that with my old carafe.
The carafe keeps my coffee or other beverage hot for 12 hours.
The Coffee Server (Carafe) can keep drinks hot for 24 hours. Or for cold beverages the carafe will keep cold for 12 hours.
The Mira travel mug does 8 hours hot and 4 hours cold.
The key to ensure your coffee stays hot is to put hot water in the carafe for a few minutes to get the cold out. It’s just the same as pre-chilling a cooler or preheating the oven. So for the people that have trouble with keeping coffee hot, it’s usually because they don’t preheat the coffee mug or carafe.
I haven’t tested the full 24 hour cold beverage, but I expect the performance to be close to that. Again, prechilling will be helpful and if the ambient temperature is cooler, that will help.
The Popular Choice: YETI Rambler Tumbler
The Yeti tumbler is a very popular choice right now, so if brand names are important to you, this is a great investment.
It’s made with the same stainless steel, BPA free material as others, and keeps your coffee warm all day long. It also comes in two sizing options to fit your unique needs.
As you can see, there is a huge variety of mugs to choose from when it comes to keeping your coffee warm. Whether you want a stay at home mug, a travel tumbler, or an all in one option, it’s out there!
Find what works best for your morning cup of coffee and never worry about taking a sip of lukewarm java again.
I just have to share this video with a neat trick the Dutch use to keep their coffee hot. And, it involves a cookie! Yum!
