Finding a deli slicer for your home

There’s nothing quite like thinly-sliced meat and perfectly sliced veggies – it really makes a world of difference in the taste! The possibilities are almost endless, but you’ll need to decide on your slicer before the fun can begin. With that, let’s peek at some of our favorites to see if they match the kind of slicing needs that you have in mind!

Elite Gourmet EMT-625B

Elite Gourmet EMT-625B Ultimate Precision Electric Deli Food Meat Slicer Removable Stainless Steel Blade, Adjustable Thickness, Ideal for Cold Cuts, Hard Cheese, Vegetables & Bread, 7.5”, Black

View on Amazon

If you are looking for a budget model that will give you the basics without breaking the bank, then the Elite Gourmet EMT-625B might be just what you need. It’s a good-looking slicer – black and with stainless steel and aluminum, and it will let you slice your cold cuts super thin or even up to ½ inch thick.

Whether you want to slice meat, veggies, cheese, or fruits, this budget slicer is well up to the task, although it’s better for more modest-sized pieces of meat, as it has a 7.5-inch blade. That said, if you want to start enjoying and sharing cold cuts or making restaurant-grade sandwiches and salads, it’s a great fit that won’t set you back much cash at all.

Moving into the reviews, 61% of customers gave it 5 stars, and another 18% felt it was worthy of at least 4. Among the praise, it’s described as powerful, easy to use, and also easy to clean by a number of reviewers.

On the flip side, in the 1-star territory, 6% of the 3142 people reviewed weren’t as happy with their Elite Gourmet, with some describing it as ‘okay’ and others advising they experienced issues cutting beef jerky and some veggies.

All in all, however, 3142 people were reviewed, so check the reviews yourself if this one interests you – 79% of 3142 customers loved it and at the price, it’s pretty hard to beat if you just need the basics.

Kalorik 200 watt Professional Food Slicer

Kalorik 200 W Professional Food Slicer, Black

View on Amazon

Another serious bargain for deli-sliced food fans is this Kalorik 200-watt Professional food slicer. Like the Elite Gourmet, this model has a 7.5-inch blade, so you can slice your meat razor-thin or up to a ½ inch thickness and the width of the meat you are cutting may be up to 6.7 inches.

It’s a good little slicer and you can slice what you want with it, be it bread, fruits, veggies, or meats, and it has some suction cups on the bottom to help hold it nice and still while you are using it. For added safety, this model also comes with a safety switch to keep you from turning it on accidentally, and it even comes with a 1-year warranty! Not bad at all, especially for the discounted price!

Looking into the reviews, this budget model was very well received, with 67% of reviewers giving it 5 stars and another 20% admitting that it earned at least 4. A reviewer named Diane likes hers for perfectly sliced scalloped potatoes and ‘B T’ says that partially-thawed meat is sliced wonderfully with this unit.

In the 1-star territory, however, about 5% of the reviewers were less thrilled with their Kalorik, with the majority of the complaints being about the materials – they didn’t like the plastics. Overall, however, most felt that the Kalorik performed quite well for a budget deli slicer that you can use at home.

Weston Electric Meat-Cutting Machine

Weston Electric Meat Cutting Machine, Deli & Food Slicer, Adjustable Slice Thickness, Non-Slip Suction Feet, Removable 9" Stainless Steel Blade, Easy to Clean

View on Amazon

Next up we have the Weston Electric Meat-Cutting Machine and it’s definitely a bargain beauty! This particular model is 200 watts and features a 9-inch blade, so you’ll have more momentum to work with the meats, veggies, fruits, bread, and cheeses that you like.

As with the other slicers, this one will slice ultra-thin pieces for you or you can go to a thickness of up to half an inch, and the aluminum build really looks sharp – nothing says ‘serious business’ in your kitchen quite like a shiny metal tool like this.

Aside from the standard perks, this machine also has a ‘food pusher’ that is optimized by the means of gripping teeth on the plastic guard, and when you need to clean it then taking it apart is a breeze!

Visiting the reviews, we see that 66% of reviewers gave this 5 stars, while a further 15% settled on just 4. One ‘Timothy A Tobin’ described it as one of the best purchases he’s ever made, stating that while it wasn’t a pro unit, it definitely gets the job done.

Wandering over into the 1 star, of which 7% of the reviewers fell, the complaints seem mostly about what it can’t do – with some describing that very hard meats were much more difficult and a couple of reviewers didn’t like the blades. All in all, if you just want a workhorse for some light deli-style cutting, you won’t be disappointed, but if you need something heavy duty then we’ll cover some more robust models as we go on!

OSTBA Die-Cast Meat Slicer

OSTBA Die-Cast Electric Deli Food Slicer with Two Removable Stainless Steel Blades,0-23mm Adjustable Thickness Meat Slicer for Home, Food Slicer Machine with Food Tray,160W

View on Amazon

Another good-looking slicer makes our list and it’s the OSTBA Die-Cast Meat Slicer.

This model runs at 160 watts and comes with 2 6.7-inch serrated stainless steel blades, as well as a number of nice little features. Features that it has include suction feet for secure placement, cable storage underneath, a food storage tray and assigned storage space, and two cutting modes for your slicing.

It also has a nice-looking black plastic food pusher to help make the cutting easier!

As far as the cuts themselves, you can cut razor thin or up to 23 mm/.9 inch thickness, and while the blades are a little shorter than the previous models, the serrations make them pretty handy for your light deli cutting needs.

Looking into the reviews, we see that 75% of customers gave this unit 5 stars, and another 12% settled for 4. Praise varied, with highlights such as ‘great for cutting beef or mutton’, ‘easy to clean’, and ‘not 100% cast iron, but solid’!

Moseying on down to the 1-star Corral, we find that 5% had less savory things to say about OSTBA, with 2 complaints about the food pusher and one person who received a broken unit in the mail… Still, it’s definitely a budget-friendly slicer that deserves a closer look, so be sure to read all of the reviews to make the judgment for yourself!

Anescra 200-watt deli food slicer

Meat Slicer, Anescra 200W Electric Deli Food Slicer with Two Removable 7.5’’ Stainless Steel Blades and Food Carriage, 0-15mm Adjustable Thickness Meat Slicer for Home, Food Slicer Machine- Silver

View on Amazon

Moving on, Anescra makes our list with this 200-watt deli food slicer, which comes with 2 7.5-inch stainless steel blades. Aside from the black suction cups on the bottom, you can get either an aluminum or black aluminum build, so that it’s both stylish and lightweight in the bargain.

This particular model will slice up to a 3 ⁄ 4-inch thickness and this model has a removable ring guard, which helps you to avoid build-up as it does its work. As far as ‘workspace’, you’ve got basically a 6. Inch a long, 6-inch space that you can stuff meat or other items that you want to cut in, so it’s a roomy little model, but otherwise doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles.

So how did it do in the reviews? Well, in the 5-star category, we find 64% of 5410 reviewers, which is a pretty solid start, especially when you see that another 19% gave it 4-star ratings. Praise for this model included that it was easy to clean and sliced meats quite thin and efficiently, and also that it felt robust and sturdy.

Moving onto the negative reviews, we have 5% that were unhappy enough to give it 1 star, with one user disliking the backplate, and another who had trouble slicing beef jerky. Finally, one user said their blade came off twice, but we did not find that in any other reviews, so make of that what you will!

Cusimax Stainless-Steel Meat Slicer

CUSIMAX Meat Slicer Electric Food Slicer with 7.5” Removable Stainless Steel Blade and Pusher, Deli Cheese Fruit Vegetable Bread Cutter, Adjustable Knob for Thickness, Food Carriage & Non-Slip Feet

View on Amazon

This Cusimax model sits on 4 silicone non-slip suction pads and comes with a number of little perks to make your life easier.

Starting off, it’s belt driven, so it never needs the lubrication required by gear-driven cutters. Cleanup is also simplified, as well, as this model is dishwasher safe and has a hidden track so that you can ensure that there aren’t any hidden shreds of chopped food bits to worry about.

As far as its cutting ability, you can cut your favorite foods up to a ¾ inch thickness, and it utilizes 1 of its 2 non-serrated 420 stainless steel blades. They also throw in a nice little nod to the customer in the form of their 30-day hassle-free policy and a further 1-month warranty to go with it after that.

It’s always nice when you get a warranty, no?

Traveling on to Reviewland, 67% of reviewers parted with 5 stars for this model and an impressive 21% felt that it had earned at least 4. Praisers of this product seemed to agree that it sliced quite thin and was easy to clean, and with all the jerky complaints on some of the previous models, you’ll be happy to hear that one user got this specifically for jerky and gave it 5 stars for this. It’s apparently a tough little beast for home deli slicin’!

Now that we’ve given you the honey, let’s dive into the vinegar and see what the 1-star raters had to say.

Well, out of 3276 reviews, there were 4% of reviewers that had some complaints. One disagreed with the ease of cleaning, another felt the serving area was too small, and one user was not happy with Cusimax customer service – though that particular review was from 2021, so if you’re worried then why not call their customer service in advance just to ask about the warranty?

Beyond this, with 3276 reviews being predominantly positive, we can definitely recommend this little workhorse with confidence.

Chef’s Choice 615A Electric Meat Slicer

Chef’sChoice 615A Electric Meat Slicer For Home Use With Precision Thickness Control, Tilted Food Carriage and 7-Inch Removable Blade, 100 W, Silver

View on Amazon

The Chef’s Choice 615 is a handsome slicer, with its silver frame and a handy compartment underneath with a food-grade tray. It’s fairly rugged, too, with the main components being aluminum and stainless steel, and it also has a nice tilted slider for your meat that makes using it one of life’s little joys.

Aside from the smooth performance of the high torque motor in this slicer, you’ve got a 7-inch blade that can cut thin up or up to 3/4 inch thickness, it also has a handy safety-lock button to keep it locked when it’s not in use.

In the reviews for this product, a solid 69% gave it 5 stars, and yet another 18% considered it worth a 4, and this was out of 2045 reviews, so that’s pretty good news. One of the top reviews said that it was an excellent compromise between bargain and restaurant-grade slicers, and there were also a number of ‘easy to clean’ reports and stellar performance with hams, cheese, summer sausages, and more!

There will always be a little rain, of course, so you know where we’re going next… to the 1-stars!

5% of the folks who purchased this unit fell into the 1-star reviewer category, and among the complaints was a long hold time with a customer service call, one unlucky person had theirs break after 1 use, and another ended up with meat in the drive gear. Thankfully, these negative reviews were very much in the minority, but it wouldn’t be fair if we left that out, so we wanted to share what we found!

Vevor Premium Commercial and Home meat slicer

VEVOR Commercial Meat Slicer, 10 inch Electric Food Slicer, 240W Frozen Meat Deli Slicer, Premium Chromium-plated Steel Blade Semi-Auto Meat Slicer For Commercial and Home use

View on Amazon

This Vevor Premium slicer is lauded as being good for both commercial AND home use and while it costs a little more, it’s a pretty powerful piece of machinery. This home and commercial meat slicer packs a copper motor and runs on 240 watts of power, and sports an 8-inch blade capable of producing 50 slicers per minute!

That makes for some delicious sandwiches on the quick, we’d say!

As far as the slicing goes, this has a dial that goes up to 12, with 12 being a half-inch thickness and 1 being transparently, gloriously thinly-sliced meat. If you are looking for heavy-duty, this is definitely it, and the aluminum and steel slicer weighs close to 29 pounds, so it should stay steady as a rock and it stands on rubber feet for extra non-slip performance.

The handled food-pusher has teeth in it for extra grip and this model also has hidden grindstones in it, to help keep your Vevor nice and sharp. Add in that it has a security shield to keep cutting safe and you have the final touches for a nicely made home meat slicer.

Peeking into the reviews, we see that 70% of reviewers gave this product 5 stars, and an additional 16 percent felt it was worth 4. ‘Judy 121’ advised that she chose this one after reviewing over 200 models, and felt it was worth every penny and worked well with turkey, roast beef, and pork meats that were sliced so thin, you could read through them. Fine praise, indeed.

On the flip side, however, there were 8% of reviewers who were definitely not as pleased as Judy and the other 86% in the 5 and 4-star category, but the complaints had to do with folks who didn’t like the instructions and a number of folks who received the wrong unit from the seller – whoops! There was one complaint of it being hard to clean, but beyond that, this unit was very much enjoyed by most who brought it into their kitchen.

BESWOOD 10″ Premium Deli Slicer

BESWOOD 10" Premium Chromium-plated Steel Blade Electric Deli Meat Cheese Food Slicer Commercial and for Home use 240W BESWOOD250

View on Amazon

This aluminum-bodied Beswood is another strong entry in the ‘heavy duty’ category and it sports a chromium-plated stainless steel 10-inch blade! Like the Vevor, this Beswood has a 2-stone sharpening system to help keep it at its best, as well as a 240-watt motor, and a 1-12 thickness setting that will slice super-thin or up to half an inch thick.

Reviews were pretty stellar for this model, with 83% of reviewers (out of 2560!) giving it 5 stars, while 4-star ratings came from another 11%. Lots of compliments were made about this being professional-grade and also a good-looking machine, so what did the 1-star folks have to say?

Well, there were some 1 stars and they made up 3% of the reviewers, and perusing the complaints we see that one person advised it was unsafe, and another said that theirs quickly oxidized. There was also a complaint that it was hard to clean, though the majority of feedback was quite positive so you’ll have to use your best judgment after checking the reviews on your own!

KWS 320W Electric Meat Slicer for commercial and home use

KWS Commercial 320W Electric Meat Slicer 10" Frozen Meat Deli Slicer Coffee Shop/restaurant and Home Use Low Noises [ ETL, NSF Certified ] (Stainless Steel Blade - Silver)

View on Amazon

Our final entry is this good-looking KWS 320-watt Electric meat slicer, good for commercial or home use.

Starting off, it’s a low-noise model, which is definitely always a perk, and it’s a beautiful machine wrought of stainless steel and aluminum with some plastic parts – though it’s large aluminum. This unit also has a 10-inch 304 stainless-steel blade and a 1-year warranty to boot!

Cutting thickness for this quiet workhorse ranges from transparently thin to .4 of an inch, and it comes with a 2-whetstone sharpening system to keep that 304 stainless steel blade nice and razor sharp. It weighs about 34, so this is a solid machine and may be overkill if you’re just wanting the occasional sandwich, but if you really love your sliced meats and veggies, then this is a high-quality slicer that won’t disappoint.

In the reviews, a whopping 75% were pleased enough to give it 5 stars, and an additional 14% were happy to give it a 4. 1 star ratings were actually quite small, at only 2%, with some complaints about the design and a couple of reviewers who had problems cutting frozen meat.

As always, make these what you will, but it’s always a good idea to check the bad reviews before you make an online purchase. Despite the unhappy 2%, though, most people felt this was an awesome slicer and a real powerhouse machine for your home or commercial kitchen!

Best newbie tips for using your new deli slicer

If you’re new to using a deli slicer at home, then you’re in luck – today we’ve got a few tips to help you to get used to your new favorite kitchen device. Here are a few suggestions to help you to get started with your slicer:

  • While some units say that they can cut frozen meats or cheeses, we really don’t recommend this – let the food thaw, preferably for a bit before use. Your unit might well be able to cut frozen items if you like, but this will quickly wear down your cutter and reduce its overall working life.
  • Everyone likes cutting meat with their slicer, but don’t forget that you can also cut cheese, bread, fruits, and veggies. For instance, try slicing some jicama thin and then give it a small splash of lemon juice and see what you think. It’s thin, crisp, and tangy, and just one example of the wonderful world you’ve unlocked with your new deli slicer!
  • If you’ve just sliced raw meat, then do NOT slice cooked meat right afterward – that’s a good way to tempt e-coli, so don’t mix raw and cooked meats in your cutting.
  • Stick to firm cheeses when you want to slice cheese – softer options like mozzarella are just going to make a mess!
  • Keep your new slicer clean – you’re working with meats here, and likely some of them are raw – it’s imperative to treat it like you would if you were slicing in a restaurant, otherwise you could quickly breed bacteria and your food will be unsafe!

Buying information for Deli Slicing machines

When you are selecting the model that you want to take home, it can be a little confusing if you aren’t used to these machines already. Here are a few tips to help:

  • Check at physical stores FIRST if you can – you can find the same models online later, and you’ll have a chance to see if it’s really easy to clean and as solid as it looks in the ads!
  • Think about how much you will really use it before going overboard on your model – for sandwiches and the occasional cold cuts for guests, there are a lot of low-end models that are absolutely perfect for the job and you’ll love them!
  • Make a promise to yourself if you are buying a model online to read all of the worst reviews first – we all know how those impulse buys can bite you if you don’t!
  • If you are getting a budget model, make sure that it’s largely dishwasher safe – deli slicers can be a pain to clean, so any model that makes it easier should automatically get bonus points in your book.

Product recommendations

With all those slicers, it was difficult to choose a favorite, but we’d have to say that we liked the mid-range Chef’s Choice 615A Electric Meat Slicer the best. It’s a fantastic home model and we liked the solid build and performance, as well as the tray cubby that comes as part of the design.

Unless you are cutting huge swathes of meat, the 7-inch blade should be able to meet your home needs, and we also liked the tilted slider – it just reminds us of the deli slicers that you see at a business.

All in all, it’s a powerful slicer and the cost is hard to beat, making this model today’s winner in our humble opinion.

FAQs

We’re just about done with our article today, but before we go there are a few frequently asked questions that we wanted to touch on in an effort to be as thorough as possible. You’ll find them below and after that, we’ll go ahead and wrap things up!

Is it cheaper to slice your own deli meat?

Oh yes – you can save a lot of money with your own deli slicer at home. Even lower-grade pieces of meat, when thinly sliced, are a lot more flavorful. The thin slicing brings out warmer lipids and combined with the custom-thin texture of the slice, you’ll save quite a lot of money while maximizing the taste of your meats, veggies, and fruits!

How thick should I slice deli meat with my home slicer?

Go for less than 1/8 of an inch or target about 1/16 of an inch to get that flavorful deli experience from your meats at home. It’s yummy and you can really pile it up on your sandwiches like you wouldn’t believe!

How long does deli meat last after slicing it at home?

3 to 5 days is the longest that you should store fresh-sliced deli meats in the fridge, unless you want to freeze them, in which case they’ll still be yummy for up to 2 months!

In Conclusion

Today we have taken a deep dive into the world of home deli slicers and there are definitely a lot of fine machines out there to ‘scratch that itch’ for delicious deli meats.

While the Chef’s Choice 615A Electric Meat Slicer was our personal favorite, all of these machines that we’ve shared today are excellent options. If you saw another one that you liked then be sure to check it out and learn more about it and if you have the time, don’t be afraid to check some out locally.

Whether it’s for making stellar lunch sandwiches, perfectly-sliced salad creations, fresh fruit or cheese snacks, or even freshly-sliced banana bread, you definitely can’t beat having your own deli slicer at home.
