Two Types of Celery Juicing Machines

The first step in buying a juicer is what type you need: masticating or centrifugal? We’ve got you covered about everything you need to know about these two juicers that are critical to your celery juicing success.

Masticating Juicer

A masticating juicer is sometimes called either a Cold Press Juicer or Slow Juicer. It works by crushing vegetables and fruits through the use of its slow rotating auger (screw).

It then presses the juice out of the produce that you feed it with. The juice runs through a mesh while the pulp is pushed into another container.

True to its name, the juicing process takes much longer than in a centrifugal juicer. However, due to its slow turning speed, the masticating juicer operates more quietly.

It can also extract more amount of juice from the same amount of produce. The juice quality is also high. It is thick, with very little foam, and can stay fresh for a whole day.

Masticating juicers can be used on both hard and soft produce, such as leafy vegetables like celery. Due to the low-speed squeezing, no or very little heat is produced that can destroy nutrients and enzymes in food.

Since the masticating juicer has a small chute, everything that you feed into it needs to be pre-cut. This means more preparation time.

It is also more expensive than centrifugal juicers. However, if you are planning to be a serious juicer, the best quality of juices it produces will be worth the hassle and cost.

PROS:

  • Operates quietly
  • Juice can be stored for 24 hours
  • Very little foam
  • Perfect for juicing green and leafy vegetables like celery
  • Preserves nutrients and enzymes

CONS:

  • Slower than centrifugal juicer
  • Needs more preparation time

Centrifugal Juicer

A centrifugal juicer has its mesh chamber with sharp teeth shred the food into pulp. At the same time, it spins at a very high speed to separate the juice and the pulp into two separate containers.

Working at a very high speed, it usually takes less than 2 minutes to make a glass of fresh juice.

No doubt the centrifugal juicer does the juicing process fast, but it does so with a fair amount of noise. This also results in more bubbles. The juice that is produced also separates much quicker and tastes less fresh than that coming from a slow juicer.

The centrifugal juicer works best with vegetables and fruits like apples and carrots. However, certain produce like leafy green vegetables and softer fruits are not juiced as well.

A centrifugal juicer usually has a large feeding chute that lets you feed it with a bigger chunk like a whole apple without pre-cutting it. This significantly reduces your prep time.

This entry-level juicer is also usually more affordable than slow juicers. They are easier to assemble and more portable.

PROS:

  • Extracts juice with speed and power
  • Has a large chute that an entire fruit or vegetable can be fed in one motion
  • Very little preparation time needed
  • Very affordable
  • User-friendly

CONS:

  • Creates a lot of noise
  • Produces foamy juice that needs to be consumed soon

Slow Masticating Juicers

Aicook Slow Masticating Juicer Extractor

Slow Masticating Juicer, Cold Press Juicer Machine, Easy to Clean, Higher Juicer Yield and Drier Pulp, Juice Extractor with Quiet Motor and Reverse Function, BPA-Free, with Recipes

View on Amazon

This Aicook juice extractor is an upgraded version of the model and so it is a little pricier than its predecessors.

Even so, you will not find a better juicer for celery in its price range.

It comes with an upgraded spiral system that ensures that every bit of juice of your celery is extracted. This means you will be getting maximum nutrition as well.

It doesn’t produce much heat and friction for better preservation of the vitamins, enzymes, and other nutrients. Also, we were pleased to find a minimum of pulp in the juice. Most of all, the motor was quiet beyond our expectations.

As expected with masticating juicers, this requires chopping the raw material before feeding it into the chute. If you want this juicer to work at its best, you need to chop them more finely. Another drawback is that cleaning the strainer of the Aicook takes time.

PROS:

  • Upgraded spiral system for optimum juice extraction
  • Quiet motor
  • Minimal pulp
  • Very minimal heat and friction

CONS:

  • Cleaning the strainer takes time

Tribest GSE-5000 Cold Press Complete Masticating Slow Juicer

Tribest GSE-5000 Cold Press Complete Masticating Slow Juicer, Jumbo, WHITE

View on Amazon

The Tribest Greenstar Elite juicer looks expensive and it may not be the cheapest juicer for celery. However, after using it, let us the first to say that it is a worthy investment. This masticating juicer is best for juicing fibrous vegetables like celery.

Tribest has further raised the bar in juice extraction efficiency by adding a third stage. After the ingredients are crushed and mashed in the first two stages, they are mixed and pressed to the maximum juice yield in the third stage. The pulp and juice are divided also at this stage.

The makers of this juicer also kept safety in mind by incorporating a safety tray at the top of the chute. It must first be fitted before the masticating juicer will power up.

On the downside, the juicer requires you to use more force on the plunger compared to the others we tried, but that’s easy to get used to.

PROS:

  • Best in juicing vegetables like celery
  • Three stages of juice extraction
  • Has a built-in safety feature
  • Good juice quality and yield

CONS:

  • Plunger needs more force

KOIOS Slow Masticating Juicer Extractor

KOIOS Juicer, Slow Masticating Juicer Extractor with Reverse Function, Cold Press Juicer Machine with Quiet Motor, Juice Jug and Brush for High Nutrie (Red-Black)

View on Amazon

The best qualities of the Koios masticating juicer are its high juice yield and affordability. This is in serious contention as the best juicer for celery.

It has a reverse function that can improve the quality of the juice. By changing the spinning direction, no solid part will be left untouched. You can be sure to get delicious juice every time.

You can also juice nearly all kinds of fruits and vegetables, including the fibrous ones like celery, pumpkin, turmeric, ginger, sweet potato, and more.

The chute may be smaller compared to other masticating juicers, but all you need to do is cut the raw materials a bit finer.

This juicer lets you juice anytime you want without disturbing anyone with its silent motor.

More importantly, this is a BPA-free juice extractor.

The Koios is a good choice if you want to include celery juicing as a part of your healthy lifestyle.

PROS:

  • Reverse function improves juice yield and quality
  • Affordable
  • Very silent motor
  • BPA-free

CONS:

  • Small chute

Aobosi Slow Masticating Juicer Extractor

Aobosi Slow Masticating juicer Extractor, Cold Press Juicer Machine, Quiet Motor, Reverse Function, High Nutrient Fruit and Vegetable Juice with Juice Jug & Brush for Cleaning

View on Amazon

The Aobosi slow juice extractor is great for extracting all kinds of fruits and vegetables, particularly leafy greens like celery. The slow juicing perfectly separates the juice from the pulp. It allows the juice to maintain its natural color and taste.

Since this is a masticating juicer, we were impressed with how fast the raw celery was juiced. What we loved the most, though, is how quiet it was while juicing.

The juicer works with even chunkier pieces, but we did notice that it can wobble if hard fruits and vegetables are not cut into smaller pieces.

This juice extractor is easy to assemble. It has a reverse function that prevents the ingredient to be stuck. It is made from anti-oxidant materials and is BPA-free. It is easy to clean with the brush that comes with it. The detachable parts are dishwasher-safe as well.

PROS:

  • Can extract juice from almost all fruits and vegetables
  • Quiet
  • Easy to assemble and take apart
  • Detachable parts are dishwasher-safe

CONS:

  • Can wobble if hard fruits and veggies are not cut into smaller piece

This is a seven-segment masticating system that comes at a very affordable price. This juicer can preserve nutrients better, with minimal oxidation.

What’s even better is that the juicer comes with a large container to collect the pulp during juicing.

The Orfeld masticating juicer has a 2-speed setting that can juice almost all fruits and vegetables. The chute is relatively small, though, so prep time is a little longer since you have to cut the raw materials into small pieces.

We really love that the reverse function avoids clogging of the machine.

Even with a 150-watt motor, this model can still function quietly, and we love its design and functionality.

PROS:

  • 7-segment masticating system preserves nutrients better
  • Affordable price
  • Reverse function prevents clogging
  • Quiet

CONS:

  • Small chute causes more prep time for fruits and veggies

View on Amazon

The first thing we noticed about this centrifugal juicer is its extra-large feed chute.

You can completely do away with the cutting process to save time in getting your fresh celery juice. You can even put in a whole apple without the need to cut it into small pieces.

The Koios juicer is a fraction of the size of much larger juicers but packs in the same power. With its sleek 13-row saw blades, grinding is made more delicate and precise.

You will also be able to get a high juice yield with less foaming. The juicer has a 2-speed mode, the first is for softer fruits, the second for harder vegetables like celery, carrots, kale, beet, and many others.

The culinary grade cutting disc and the mesh filter are easily cleaned and can be assembled in seconds. The juicer is also made from BPA-free materials.

The instructions in the manual say to run the juicer for two minutes at a time for optimum performance and so the motor can cool down. It would be better if it could run longer or had an auto-off feature.

PROS:

  • Extra-large chute
  • Compact but packs in power like the bigger juicers
  • Easy to assemble and clean
  • High juice yield with less foam

CONS:

  • Runs for two minutes at a time for optimum performance

Breville BJE200XL Juice Fountain Compact Centrifugal Juicer

Breville BJE200XL Juice Fountain Compact Centrifugal Juicer, Silver

View on Amazon

Breville has cleverly placed the pulp collector, chute, and mesh filter as close together as possible in this juicer to take up less counter space.

The Breville’s modern design is easy on the eyes. It also sports a steel locking arm to keep the lid in place.

We find it relatively easy to clean, with some parts being dishwasher-safe. A bristled brush to clean the mesh strainer is also included.

Most importantly, this compact juice extractor is a solid performer in juicing fruits or vegetables like celery. Even juicing fibrous kale wasn’t all that difficult with this mean juicing machine.

The only drawback of this machine is that it makes less juice than comparable juicers. Even with that minor issue, it is still a great celery juicer.

PROS:

  • Compact and uses less countertop space
  • Easy to clean with parts that are washing machine safe
  • Solid performer in juicing fruits and vegetables

CONS:

  • Makes smaller juice batches

Picberm Juicer Extractor

Juicer Extractor Picberm PB2312A Wide Mouth Juicer Machines, 3 Speed Centrifugal Juicer for Fruit and Vegetable, Powerful Juicer with Plus Pulse Function, 800W/20000RPM, Easy to Clean & BPA Free, Black

View on Amazon

If a super fast juicer is what you’re looking for, this Picberm centrifugal juicer is the one for you.

Packing an amazing speed of 2000 rpm, this will make your juice in no time at all. Its unique honeycomb blade design makes it both fast and efficient, finely grinding your ingredients to give you a high juice yield.

Another unique thing about this juicer is that it has an anti-drip feature on its spout, keeping your countertop clean.

The parts themselves can be easily cleaned with the brush that is bundled with the machine. The removable parts can also be washed in the dishwasher.

The centrifugal juicer has a safety locking arm for safe operation. It prevents the juicer from running without its cover lock in place. The machine is also equipped with non-slip rubber feet to keep it stable while juicing.

Two drawbacks: you will need to buy a fine strainer since it does not have a strainer for the container where the juice is dispensed. You don’t want to drink the foam or residual pulp floating on top of the juice.

PROS:

  • Superfast juicer
  • High juice yield
  • Anti-drip feature
  • Safety locking arm

CONS:

  • You need to purchase a separate strainer to do away with foam and residual pulp

Hamilton Beach Pro Juicer Machine

Hamilton Beach Pro Juicer Machine, Big Mouth Large 3” Feedchute, Easy to Clean, Centrifugal, BPA Free, 800W (67608A), Silver

View on Amazon

This centrifugal juicer has an extra-large 3-inch chute mouth that is capable of fitting whole fruits and vegetables. Bunches of celery with leaves and stems intact can be easily fed into it. So can a whole apple or a handful of kale.

You will have less or no pre-cutting of food with this juicer. You can have your nutrient-packed and fresh celery juice in just a few seconds.

This Hamilton Beach juicer has a powerful electric motor that can process the densest vegetable into a smooth juice in just seconds. This means a high yield of juice.

We noticed that the juicer would spill out the pulp in the waste container it comes with. Cleaning the container or the juicer itself is not hard, but we can do away with cleaning the countertop around it every time this happens. Maybe all it needs is a very minor tweaking in the design to correct this.

PROS:

  • Big 3-inch mouth
  • Little or no prep time needed
  • Powerful motor for high juice yield
  • Easy to assemble and clean

CONS:

  • Pulp may spill in the waste container

Cuisinart CJE-1000 Die-Cast Juice Extractor

Cuisinart CJE-1000 Die-Cast Juice Extractor

To be honest: we think this juicer is just so pretty!

It’s more than just a pretty face though. The Cuisinart also has a sophisticated spout that you can adjust to regulate juice flow.

The juicer lid operates on a hinge that lets you keep the lid open hands-free while cleaning or air-drying it. It also comes with a large 3-inch feeding chute.

The Cuisinart juice extractor is a 1000 watt, 5-speed extractor that can produce a high juice yield with very little foam. Its noise level is on the average of centrifugal juicers.

With its power, it is surprising that it doesn’t vibrate excessively when running. It also has non-slip feet for stability.

Frankly, we do find it odd that the power cord is only about three feet. Other juicer’s cords can be as long as five feet. Considering that this is among the larger juicers, the cord should be longer to give you plenty of room to operate it on your countertop.

PROS:

  • 5-speed setting
  • 3-inch chute
  • Sophisticated spout to regulate juice flow
  • Relatively low noise level

CONS:

  • Short power cord limits room to operate it on the countertop

Tips for Juicing Celery Correctly

  • You need to use crisp and fresh celery for juicing. It has the highest concentration of chlorophyll and the all-important vitamins. It is also important to not peel the celery and keep the leaves intact. Leaves are great sources of Vitamin A.
  • Wash your celery well to remove embedded dirt in the leaves and stalks. If you have time, you can soak it in cold water for a few minutes and then scrub it under running water.
  • Run celery through a juicer. Drink the juice immediately for best results.

The Final Call

It’s not easy to pick the best cheap juicer for celery since budget is a very important factor. However, this list provides lots of options for your juicing needs! Just go with the juicer that fits both your budget and that checks your most important boxes!

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of juicer is best for celery?

The masticating juicer is the best for juicing celery. It extracts the juice more gently and slowly, producing no heat in the process. This way, oxidation is minimized and much of the nutrients are preserved.

Compared to using the centrifugal juicer, you will also be using less celery but higher yield with the slow juicer. You will end up with a very dry pulp because the celery was juiced thoroughly.

Do you juice celery on high or low?

Centrifugal juicers are perfect for processing hard fruits and veggies like oranges, apples, and carrots, but have trouble extracting juice from leafy greens like celery.

A cold-press juicer would be the better choice. Despite the slow speed, they are versatile enough to work well with both hard and softer materials. Your celery juice will be thick and have very little foam.

Can you buy celery juice at the store?

There are now bottled celery juice available in the market. However, fresh celery juice is still best both in taste and nutritional benefits. Bottled food always goes through pasteurization, and this lowers the vitamins and nutrients.

There might be other ingredients added to the bottled celery juice that may impact your health or specific health condition you are trying to cure by juicing. If you are planning to buy bottled juice, you need to read the label first and check the ingredients.
